Mr. Hsieh Wei Tang has been running a restaurant for several years. Mr. Hsieh Wei Tang and his wife did the cooking themselves. They did not hire anybody to cook. Therefore, he had to work very hard. Due to standing for long time during cooking, his knee has started hurting. His leg felt heavy and he could not lift it. He was suffering for 1.5 years. Every night after returning home he used to massage his leg, put ointment etc, but it did not work. When the pain increased, he went to a doctor. However, his pain gradually became more severe. He took lot of medicines, but it did not help at all. One day one of his neighbour gave him the address and phone number of the doctor. Then he got in touch with the doctor. Finally, he went to Fortis Hospital to get his operation.
Treatment / Remedy:
On 28th Feb, 2011 Mr. Tang underwent a custom fit knee replacement surgery at the Fortis Hospital under Dr. Rakesh Rajput. This was the first such surgery done in Eastern India. After operation, he should be on walker for 4 weeks and on stick for 2 weeks. Normally, there is a lot of swelling and stiffness in the knees of the patients. However, with this kind of patients, the swelling and stiffness is almost zero. With the help of physiotherapy, the patient gradually become improves. It reduces the operative time.

59 yr, female, non diabetic & non hypertensive presented with pain in right knee and swelling in upper aspect of knee joint, typically worsened with going up & down stairs/ squatting or rising from seated position or even in walking on inclined surface. Clinically she has typical tenderness on Patella Femoral joint but no tenderness on lateral or Medial joint line. X-ray shows typical arthritis changes only in Patella femoral compartment. She underwent Patella femoral replacement first of its kind in eastern India. Patient walking painfree with no difficulty in stair climbing after the operation.

53 yr female presented with pain both knee and deformity for more than 5 yrs. She is hardly able to walk 5 minutes and almost home bound. She is not able to squat or sit cross legged and had difficulty in stair climbing. She is known Hypertensive and Diabetes. Clinically she has 15 degree varus and range of moment 5 degree – 90 degree right knee and 10 degree varus and range of moments 10 degree – 80 degreein her left knee. Her x-ray shows advanced Tricompartmental arthritis. She underwent total knee replacement at 5 days internal and walking smoothly with normally aligned knee joint and leg after operation.
